i disagree with them. but aaa says this memorial day weekend will be the busiest at airports since 2005. more than 3 and a half million americans expected to get on a plane. if you look at these numbers max plane why. the travel booking app popper says airfare for memorial day weekend averaged $260 for a round-trip. that's pretty expensive but it's down about 10% from last year. what's interesting though is when we talk to flyers a lot of them are not noticing lower prices. >> i would say it's definitely more expensive especially the closer you got to the weekend. like up i bought my ticket probably maybe a month or 2 ago and i recently bought a second ticket and then it was a most double the price. >> it is so pricey. it hasn't gone down significantly. >> we would truly like to see them come down. >> but high prices are not deterring flyers and neither are

the problems at boeing. today the playmaker put out its third annual safety report. it says in the first 2 months of this year right after the door plug blowout submissions from employees raising concerns about safety and quality increased sixfold, 500% compared with the same period last year. and on a lighter note the list the most stressful airports in the country based on the number of flights and travellers and the cost for parking 2 airports each in florida california and texas made the list. chicago o'hare at the very top of the list and that's where i have a right because i've flown into and out of that airport a whole lot and the most stressful for me is orlando because you have so many families and kids everywhere because of the theme parks there and it stresses me out but maybe that's just me. >> for me though it's atlanta and chicago because the track, i had a backpack on this weekend in atlanta and felt like i walked up a mountain so i guess

monster tornado sitting on the ground in the southwest oklahoma yesterday for nearly an hour and more severe weather could actually be on the way. let's go to meteorologist rick within the fox weather centre on just how bad things could get this holiday weekend. >> it's in the worst 6 weeks we've had in at least about 12 years for tornadoes. so many of them. this is the last 24 hours and i could have put this map up at any point of the last month and a half and it would have looked like this. especially across parts of the planes. we have more severe weather today ask of your thunderstorm watch in effect for parts of missouri illinois a little bit of iowa, not as much for threat of tornadoes today. all that said take a look at this. right there we've got a tornado warning to the south of fargo and look at the snow across parts of north dakota. here weegar going into the unofficial start of summer was snow across parts of north dakota. more severe weather coming across parts of texas. this will blossom over the next couple of hours. here's our severe threat today. take a look at tomorrow and sunday. over the weekend i'm really

>> be patient to pack your patience pants because there's not much you can do. if you're travelling today friday or monday you'll be delayed. there's been to be hassles. just going with the mindset that it's gone to happen and then you can just kind of handle it from there and again it's the busiest weekend and 20 years to just have to roll with the punches. >> it feels like the airports outside if you have 1 of the special bills with an airline or maybe a credit card you can go and chill out 1 of these special spots, they've done little to nothing to accommodate for that. so i was on a flight earlier this week delayed 3 hours and there is no place for me to sit to get comfortable. i did find a beanbag. i don't know how the hell are being they got in the airport and i sat on that it leaned against the wall for a while. >> i can't tell you how much joy i would get to walk through and importance you sitting on a beanbag. >> you get joy trying to watch me get off that beanbag.

that was the real fun. >> if you want to get in the lounges you have to either be a member or pay and have the right credit card. you know how it goes. the lounges are packed. sometimes it's more comfortable to sit outside in the terminal or zia do i just kind of walk back and forth and get my steps and while i'm waiting because it seems to be a little bit more productive to do that then sit there and be angry. >> at the gun 1 hand we certainly celebrate the return of travel in general. initially was like you only live once can't put it feels like there's a seat to change. something has gone on with the american psyche. we really are travelling a lot more as a group. >> there's no question and there's a variety of factors at play. i think social media has done wonders for travel because people are seeing places they probably wouldn't have seen, 5

can actually 10, 15 years ago and also the dollar is very strong. you look across the world we are just a little bit below par with the euro and we have an all-time high against the japanese yen cast you go anywhere in europe this summer you'll see a ton of americans and it's cheaper than it has been in most of the last 20 years and in japan it's as cheap as it ever has been in my lifetime. so it's a good time to have dollars. >> the ceo of trivago is quoted as saying more and more people are choosing three-star hotels over five-star ones, and they are also staying closer to home. are you seeing this trend and is obviously about economics or is there more to it? >> advocates mostly about economics because if you're looking at a five-star hotel which pre-covid would have been about $500.90 looking at a thousand $1,500 where three-star hotels are still around $200 a

night so just makes a lot more sense to save money and wherever you're going you're probably not going there for the hotel anyway unless you're just going to resort but if you're going to pretty much any city or whatever you can just be in a hotel and do whatever you do and not worry about it and save the money in the same thing goes with staying closer to home because of people drive obviously the price of airfare is highs it's been in years and so you're saving that money especially if you have a family. it makes sense to drive even if you have to deal with traffic. >> so i'm learning the world changed and amenities. out of room service. fewer people are asking for room service but when getting your towels watched become a big deal? >> it's ridiculous. >> you might have put in a written request if you want us to wash these towels. >> it's crazy some of the things that go on and hotels or actually don't go on kind of like that or the making your bed

had the lowest the best poverty rate in terms of the positive number ever in our history for black americans and hispanic americans. real earnings for african-americans are down 5.6%, african-americans are getting slaughtered. hispanic americans are getting slaughtered. >> will it move the needle? let's get to read from democrat strategist kelly hyman, gop strategist justin and let me start with you. what you think about this recently by former president trump going after these voters in deep blue states? >> i think it spells big trouble for joe biden. traditionally african-american voters and hispanic voters formed the core of the base of the democratic party. we are 5 months away from election day and if donald trump the presumptive republican armoury dominey is reaching into joe biden space that's not a good sign for the biden campaign. that will force joe biden to defend his base when he should be targeting swing voters and independent voters. bad news for the joe biden

campaign. >> the last election cycle i can distantly remember going on a radio show and sing if you didn't vote for him you weren't black. and they continue to take black american votes for granted? >> let's look at the facts. african-americans under trump administration were just portion and we left out of the tax cuts. african american households received only 5% of the benefit from trump's tax law despite making up 13% over the households. so it's important to look at the facts and let's look at the judiciary. when trump was in office the judges oversee cases. they oversee the law of the land when trump was a president of the united states nearly 90% of his nominees judge appointed were white. nearly 80% of them were white. >> of all the jobs you just

mentioned let's call it a thousand jobs in total, we were talking about overall i just looked at the federal reserve website, black weekly income for black people is down since biden has been in office. that's black people on a weekly basis with inflation at a 40 year high up. do you think you'll sway a young black man 22 years old that hey there was judicial appointments a few more underbite and then trump give myhrvold again? >> let's talk of the fact, an employment. let's talk about what biden has done for the african-americans. let's not forget what trump has done. remember what trump said about the african nations calling them asked nations about he said about that. >> there's some things biden said about black people. we could go on and on all day long with the urban jungle some of the really ugly vicious things that also talk about the laws he put into place that put

millions of young black men in prison. let's bring it forward though. we can do the history stuff later. let's talk at this very, very moment. it's pretty obvious at least according to all the polls that the needle is moving. whether it moves enough to flip a steak night new york may be inconsequential that we know the election has been won by handful of votes the last few cycles. >> charles look. if you look at the polls donald trump is getting 4-5 times the amount of support amongst african-american voters than he did in 2016 when he beat hillary clinton. if you look at the state of nevada recently the new york times poll showed donald trump beating joe biden amongst hispanic voters in the state of nevada by 9 points so joe biden's campaign is bleeding support from these traditional democratic constituencies and a matter how many judges and other issues the democrats want to raise the african-american community and hispanic community

don't seem to be dying according to these polls spent yesterday president trump former president trump not mentioning nikki haley in his neck city speech but he told a local reporter he quote appreciated what she said. of course referring to hailey saying she will indeed vote from is this a big deal for you are not? feels that the republican party is starting to coalesce around president trump. >> it's not a big deal. the gop has turned into the trump. she said that she's going to vote for him and we live in a country where you can choose to vote for whoever you want but she did not commit and endorse him or ask for voters to support him and i think that's key. >> advocates a big deal for nikki haley to finally come out and say she supporting donald trump. it unifies the republican party. bad news for the biden campaign.

that's the last thing the biden campaign wanted to see. there hoping nikki haley would hold out because this sends a signal to her supporters if i can vote for donald trump you can vote for donald trump and the reason she gave his joe biden's presidency has been a catastrophe. that sends a strong message to unify the republican party and joe biden still has a divided republican democratic party and we'll see that at the democratic convention in august speak less than a minute. >> does this help president trump with respect to perhaps suburban housewives? >> it doesn't. we have to look at his record. etiquette julie important for suburban housewives to look at what he's done when he was president and how our economy was. so she said she was going to vote for him. she did not say he/she endorsed endorsed him and asked her voters to support him smack i've a feeling she will do all that stuff before between now and november. will see. thank you very much.

>> it appears that all engines are going to june 3rd to begin this trial with jury selection. hunter biden was here in his hometown of wilmington delaware to answer for this indictment that was filed last year by special counsel david weiss accusing hunter biden of saying no or marking no on a federal firearms form when he said he was not addicted to drugs back in 2018. now we were there when the president's' son walked out of his courthouse. the hearing lasted 2 hours. it was an opportunity for hunters legal team and special counsel to kind of hash out last-minute issues, 11th hour issues before this trial starts. today in court judge maryellen ruled special counsel cannot mention the indictment and pending tax case california or mention his child support case in arkansas or even his discharge from the navy. special counsel cannot use the phrase extravagant lifestyle but may mention some of those purchases.

the judge presiding over the trial is the same judge charles last year who basically blew up and tore up hunter biden's plea deal. maryellen norey cat is no-nonsense. she ruled in favour of the prosecution that they do not need to prove that hunter biden was allegedly on drugs the day he allegedly filled out the gun form but just around the time in general. special counsel david weiss was in the room watching closely. we know he will interest parts of the infamous hunter biden laptop of it as evidence. would know which parts but we do know 51 former intelligence officials in 2020 said it was likely russian disinformation. david weiss' office says it's not. we didn't know much about what abby low hunter biden's attorney plans to present in front of the jury but he hinted today he may present the theory that hunter biden did not actually check no on the box and there may be a chain of custody issue and other

we will let the tech folks start it all out. the laptop wants russian disinformation front and centre in a trial that everyone's been waiting for. >> it is insanity. this whole case has gone sideways but by today the judge brought back on track. remember in 2023 the plea deal was immediately thrown out because hunter biden would not agree to broad immunity. he wanted brought immunity. today the judge answered pretrial requests and decided that laptop cell phone text messages, whatsapp messages, all of that will be admitted during this trial in june which will tell us then what was hunter biden doing at the time? was he talking to his drug dealers? was he making arrangements for drugs? all of that comes into play because the case is based on him

being a drug user on or about the time he purchased this firearm. >> how much is that? there was an effort to say hey at the very moment he was filling out this form he might have been on drugs at this time therefore didn't know what he was doing. certainly wasn't something he did deliberately. i don't know the judges buying that. apparently has not. but how do you get around the issue that during that time period he certainly was, i think we all know now pretty heavy user? 's. the prosecution has got to attempt to introduce then all of this data that's on his cell phone faculties text messages, allegedly messages to a drug dealers, messages to other family members or friends where he's engaging in conversation about doing drugs, and that will be part of the prosecution's case to prove that while he was

purchasing a firearm on or about that time, that's what the judge today decided. he didn't have to be on drugs at the exact moment he purchased the gun, that the prosecution has to prove honour about the time he was purchasing the firearm he was a drug user known also the judge will allow some excerpts from hunter biden's book, his memoir which talk about drug use and his life and lifestyle since 2015 when he claims he became a drug user as a result of his brother's death. >> let's switch gears to the new york trump trial. closing arguments scheduled for tuesday. what should we expect? >> i think we are going to expect fireworks from the defence. the defence is going to come out guns blazing. no case has been made. there has been yet to see a fact

from the prosecution in the trump case that donald trump had erroneous business record. there's a lot of salacious information from stormy daniels. a lot of i don't know what we want to call it, testimony from michael cohen which has been refuted, his credibility has been attacked, regularly incessantly by the defence. the defence is had a very, very strong strong defence and i think in summation what they will do is bring it together and show the jury this is not a case that should have ever even been brought. there is no legal basis for this prosecution. >> i have less than 30 seconds to go. a lot of handwringing and concern about the instructions to the jury. are you concerned about that? >> as a trial attorney you always concerned about what the jury is going to hear. they're also concerned about how

>> how backed up is it at the southern border? how about migrants ordering a ride on lift scooting away without being processed by border patrol agents. to fox in california with the latest. >> border patrol reports here in the san diego sector in the last week alone they've apprehended migrants from 67 different countries and take a look at his video. is what it's like when you drive around on some roads out here. migrants wandering around on the roads aimlessly after they've crossed illegally. this is because they are looking for border patrol agents. there weren't any around when we shot this video. agents were on the other side of town picking up another group so these migrants wander around. it's unclear if this group ever even got apprehended. but take a look at the second piece of video why agents were busy other side of town there was a mass illegal crossing, people from all over the world crossing, people from china, india pakistan, cameroon

at the burger king. now it's 4 times more expensive and this is a real khaki laugh about this but lower income people can't go out to fancy restaurants. they are struggling in their idea of good healthy dinner is go to mcdonald's and get the big mac meal. they can't afford it any longer. it's not like $12, $15. some places $20. what kind of deal is that? same thing with chick-fil-a and wendy's. that's going to make it much more difficult for families social you have 4 kids or something like that. harry able to afford to take people out? it's supposed to be cheap food and it's not cheap anymore. >> you can't afford. want to squeeze this in real quick because the biden administration tapping more of our energy reserves. they say they want to fight the high price of gas. this time they hit the northeast gas reserve. our strategic petroleum reserve is in a 40 year low.

this has been put aside for natural disasters hurricane season those kind of things. >> this is dangerous. we are depleting strategic petroleum reserve. he's already taken well over 150 million barrels out of that reserve. at supposed to be used for natural disasters or terrorist attack. he's using for political purposes. it is crudely political that he's doing this. by the way it's not going to affect the gas price. 1 million barrels is going to may be reduced the gas price 2 or 3%. joe biden you want to reduce the gas price for americans you know what you do? drill baby drill for the oil here at home. >> charles: steve have a fantastic weekend, my friend. thank you very much. >> you too. >> charles: tomorrow caboodle live former energy secretary rick perry on the latest effort from the white house to try to lower gas prices.

alternative, well, could be. california is launching "road charge," a pilot program, that would tax drivers by the mile. here to discuss. scott, what do you think? >> surveillance, big brother, government keeping a closer eye on you, mr. and mrs. driver. that's what this tells me, charles. the aghast tax in california and $1.50 a gallon and going higher isn't giving the state what they want so they add this to the mix. one thing over and over again with regards to california and the nation in general, the government thinks they know best. the government thinks that there is workings and how they are going to work some of the issues they have deficitwise is how they're going to take control of us and that taxes is more as they may spend more money. this is not something i important any sense. >> charles: rebecca, it seems like someone if you will live far off and you drive to a job at walmart or a dollar general, this is punitive, this is really -- this is going to be

punitive. >> yeah, it is completely punitive for folks in suburban areas and not urban areas. charles, i agree with scott and go beyond that. everything is moving to subscription-based. we are going to charge you per use, per mile. i want to challenge you to think about their privacy applications here. california obviously says this is going to be anonymized but it cannot be if you are being charged, they have to know who you are and what you are drivin. and then all of the out-of-state cars that are coming on these roads, how are they going to charge them so that it is fair? now we are looking at a national registration and license plate system, so now there is no pricing, has to be across the united states because of you driving to california they have to be able to charge you so this is every way to not go. they've got to find better ways to replace revenue, period. >> charles: maybe stop spending. [laughs] we know california will never never do that. let me switch gears here because both you guys are avid readers

of quarterly earnings and you listen to these conference calls. well, the cracker barrel ceo recently made comments that have investors losing their appetite. now the restaurant stock, it sank right after the head of the chain said, "that the chain itself is just not as relevant as it used to be on the investment call. and you know, i thought ceo stood for cheap excitement officer. nobody wants it anymore. >> i think it certainly should have been wordsmith a lot better and maybe focus group tested because it clearly was not received well, and cracker barrel is experiencing what a lot of people are experiencing, red lobster, but the older generation, hasn't even returned post-pandemic. obviously they do need to get branch out to jan x, gen z,

millennials, and really gear toward the older generation so hopefully -- i don't want them to change, i love shopping for christmas stuff and all the seasons, i love their down-home country cooking. we need a good, wholesome restaurant chain. please don't change. just figure out how to make it work again in 2024. >> charles: you know, they should benefit, they are all located near highways, right? people are hitting the roads. there are some natural benefits, scott, that they have, but for the ceo to be so -- it's just ridiculous. he needs more than just some simple wordsmithing, maybe needs to be shown. >> don't call this guy dishonest, cheap honest officer because i agree with him, have you been to a cracker barrel in the last 5-10 years, they look the exact same, by the way. the woman being honest, how about that, that is exactly the problem here, she is being honest about the situation which has not reinvented itself in the last 20 years. i would rather go to restaurants
