Friday 17 May 2024 Update
As already noted
BA229 BWI
cancelled as is
BA554 FCO
It's been a bad day for timekeeping. There were long delays in take off times, up to 40 minutes mid afternoon, due mainly to congestion. Something like two thirds of arrivals and departures were late today.

I understand ZY as to be late arrival of the inbound aircraft. BA0632 was 45 minutes late.

Welcome to Flyertalk and welcome to the BA forum.
As you have seen the inbound flight was 2 hours late leaving LHR, and thus when the crew got to Athens were out of hours to return the flight to London. So it's running today instead after the crew have had their rest period as mandated by law. It leaves Athens today at 14:35 instead of yesterday 20:50. I'm trying to work out why it was so late leaving LHR but it looks to be ATC related, as per the reports above. If so, it may not be claimable, but it depends on the very precise set of circ*mstances. So if you are still on that flight today, then listen to the captain's pre-flight briefing since those details will be worth careful attention.

Thanks to Sigwx for this last week- just want to check this officially went down as TECY in the book or wherever it goes. ! Claim submitted on 13/5 but still in queue and from reading on here the official classification is not available forever. So just wanted to double-check in case BA pushback at some point in the future when they process the claim .

Some cancellations today
BA816 CPH
BA700 VIE
BA1448 EDI
BA452 IBZ
BA836 ATH
BA854 PRG
BA372 TLS
BA472 BCN
None of the above are weather or ATC related so my working assumption is that they are all under BA's control.
There are 320 BA departures today and 639 for LHR as a whole. Timekeeping isn't that good but a lot better than yesterday. Regulation was ended at 0936, but there are some take off delays southwards due to sheer weight of traffic.
Landing RWY: 09L
Airborne holding (mins): avg 2
Departure RWY: 09R
TSAT delay average (mins): 1
Network: 62 regulations across Europe. Most penalising LSZH due CBs, EDUU due ATC Capacity, LHCC due Ukraine Crisis.
Weather: Cloudy for the afternoon with gentle NE'ly winds throughout the operation. Medium risk of ISOL CB in the LTMA (low risk of clusters) which may lead to STAM and WX avoiding at times.
